Otto and Bruno
Otto, [the great virtual] King of Bavaria and St. Bruno the Great aren't sure where to spend their mutual deathday tomorrow. Maybe they'll go to Derrida's funeral.

Oddly enough...
Oddly enough, Christopher Reeves has been part of The Odds of Ottopia since the day after the quondam feast of St. Catherine de Ricci 2004.
"In the movie, Christopher Reeves plays a U.S. Congressman from Pennsylvania. Before he visits the manor for a circa 1936 foreign affairs conference, the aristocrat [of the manor] and some of his compatriots wonder as to the source of the Congressman's family's wealth--"Perhaps they made their money from trolley cars." This is an obscure reference to the Philadelphia Wideners, for whom Lynnewood Hall by Horace Trumbauer was built. I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon (just across the street from the now derelict Lynnewood Hall, which was once just as grand as the Manor House in the movie) at Our Lady of Prouille, the quondam Elstowe, estate of the Elkins Family, now a retreat house run by the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine de Ricci."
excerpt from: Re: of castles, fortifications, etc.
I spent time (mostly taking pictures) at Elstowe and as close to Lynnewood Hall as I could get this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday--October 7th, 8th, and 9th.
correction:
Trumbauer does not mean 'tower builder' in German, for that name is 'Turmbauer'. If the name Trumbauer is derived from Traumbauer, however, then the name means 'dream builder'.
"Your right Otto, no one else looks as good flying as he does."

philly
Spent time last week 'touring' Trumbauer 'palace' architecture of Philadelphia's immediate northern suburbs--the remains of Whitemarsh Hall, Grey Towers of today's Arcadia University, Curtis Hall-the remains of the Curtis Estate, the somewhat derelict Lynnewood Hall, Chelten House, Elstowe, and Georgian Terrace.
The great hall of Grey Towers is easily one of the best interior spaces in the Philadelphia area, a descendent of the entry hall of the Paris Opera House and a precursor to the great hall of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (where Trumbauer also played a role in the design). Overall, I've come to the realization that grand buildings containing great multi-story halls are a Trumbauer hallmark.
Oddly enough...

Re: Pop Life: Los Super Elegantes
I like how Reenactment Season 2004 ended with (the) RePop (exhibition) at the Da Vinci Art Alliance, Artforum's "Pop After Pop", and the renewed fuming of Mount St. Helens.
I found the Pop After Pop Roundtable obtuse and more than slightly unnecessary. There is a growing need for all them to pop out of it!
That Jeff Koons painting 'deconstruction' piece is a prime example of so-called new technique that is otherwise dated for artists that have been using computers and graphics software for 20 years now.
piss elegant

SURVIVOR ST. HELENA
In honor of the 189th anniversary of his arrival at St. Helena Island 15 October 1815, Napoleon himself is throwing a 39-day long reality TV party--Survivor St. Helena. The tribes are already playing on the island. For sure, Napoleon's in one tribe, and it leaked that Victor Emmanuel is a tribemember as well, but otherwise it's all been very hush hush.
