Brutalism in A Clockwork Orange
Subject: (sixth of) Top 10 [designs of the 20th century]
Date: 1999.12.21
6. Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange [1971].
20th century symmetry at its best.
--A Quondam Banquet of Virtual Sachlichkeit: Part I, p. 79.
I have seen the movie many times, first in 1974, but I've owned the soundtrack since it came out. Now I'm thankful that I can borrow the movie anytime from the local free library. Seriously, check out all the symmetry in it.

1936. Thursday, New York City
His train from Cleveland is due in at seven in the morning. On arrival Duchamp has time to go to the Carnegie Hall studio to see if there are any
messages for him and to pay Charles F. Biele & Sons $10 for the two strips of glass ordered on 1 August before meeting Miss Dreier, who has stayed overnight at the Colony Club.
Still without funds, the Société Anonyme is never likely to be in a position to care for the works from her collection which Miss Dreier "set aside" nine years ago for its use. As a safeguard, Miss Dreier has had a Trust Agreement drawn up making herself and Duchamp joint trustees of 45 items from her collection, to be held in trust for the Société Anonyme until it can be established somewhere permanently.
In the morning, after discussing the draft Trust Agreement with Dee, Miss Dreier telephones their amendments to William Shaw of Blandy, Mooney & Shipman, who has drawn up the document. In the afternoon Dee and Miss Dreier return by train to West Redding.
