Hope all is well
Hello Yura,
It’s been too long since I’ve communicated with you. Hope all is going well with you, Katya and the exhibit.
I’ve been busy with The Discovery of Piranesi’s Final Project and with my brother and there were some health issues I had to deal with over the last two months. Plus I’m always tired by the end of the day.
I know I wrote previously that I wanted to submit some kind of statement about my relationship to Russia for the exhibit. Right now I’m not exactly sure what that statement might be. Let me know if you even think it’s necessary, as I don’t want to interfere with the exhibit as the curatorial team is planning it.
Plus, let me know if there are any press releases written for the exhibit. I’m interested in anything official about the exhibit. And, of course, let me know if there is anything I can do to help with the exhibit at this point.
Steve

Re: Hope all is well
Dear Stephen,
I wanted to inform you that we are continuing our work on the exhibition. However, due to a decision by the GES-2 management, the opening date of the exhibition has been changed. The opening has been rescheduled from July to October. I believe this is somewhat fortunate and coincides with the completion of your current project, "The Discovery of Piranesi's Final Project". I see this as a good sign. Currently, only the announcement of the Star Revenge exhibition is published on the website. Official press releases are being prepared. I will definitely send you all the official texts about the exhibition as they become available.
I also wanted to congratulate you on the new discovery within your project. It was very unexpected and extremely interesting for me to learn that Piranesi had a personal enemy in Bianconi, whose relationship with Piranesi is so intriguingly revealed in his final project. Overall, I must say that your project is doing very important work in overcoming established formal oppositions regarding Piranesi: poet-scholar, fantasist-explorer, which have been solidified since S. Eisenstein's time, who did a great deal for the contemporary interpretation of Piranesi. You are familiar with all of this through Tafuri. But what you are doing represents the most interesting interpretation of Piranesi today. Perhaps your statement about your connection to Russia could include your attitude towards Eisenstein's interpretation of Piranesi, as well as Khlebnikov and his connection to the project "The Timepiece of Humanity," and of course, the history of your family - your parents. It would be very important for us to have this text for the narrative about your work in Russia.
Sincerely yours,
YP

From The Discovery of Piranesi's Final Project:
28 June 2023   Monday
For about 15 minutes before going to bed I did some thinking about what I now think about Sergei Eisenstein and Piranesi--Eisenstein is thoroughly modern and, I'd like to think, Piranesi inspired in Eisenstein a type of hyper-baroque modern. Honestly, I have only a cursory knowledge of Eisenstein's material, so let's just call my new thinking a hunch.

what is the difference between paradise & utopia?
I'd say both paradise and utopia are man-made [intellectual] constructs, but paradise is metaphoric and utopia is paradigmatic.
